blues high performance facility
A new high performance training and administration building gives the Auckland Blues Super 15 rugby franchise a new home at Alexandra Park. The vibrant internal spaces provide an integrative hub for management, administration and players together as a team.
THE PRECAST CONCRETE EXTERIOR EXPOSES BOTH THE RUGGED NATURE AND DYNAMICISM OF THE GAME.
A simple palette of materials tells the story of the Blues. The roof wraps over the building like a wing and rests on the support of the rugged structure below. A full commercial kitchen provides for various users, with a café that combines with an adjacent media room to accommodate functions of varying scales. The players appreciate the gymnasium and training area and the integration of the facility with medical staff.
